Boston Scientific Letterkenny was established in 1992 as InterVentional Technologies Europe Limited ("IVT"). In April 2001, IVT and its US parent company, InterVentional Technologies Inc, were acquired by Boston Scientific Corporation.

The Coronary cutting balloon is a minimally invasive angioplasty catheter used in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The device contains either 3 or 4 stainless steel blades mounted longitudinally on the surface of the balloon. These blades will score and compress plaque, and allow dilatation at lower pressures. Clinical studies have shown that the Coronary cutting balloon causes less trauma to the vessel wall that conventional balloon angioplasty. It is manufactured in 27 sizes (3 lengths, 9 diameters). The Peripheral cutting balloon is designed for challenging indications including: Haemodialysis Access Management, Superficial Femoral Artery, Lower Extremity Occlusive Disease and In-stent Restenosis (Renals).
